Event Description

The Perfect Storm:  The Global Financial Crisis of 2008
Presented by:
Jonathan Duchac
Professor of Accounting, Director of Program in Risk Management

Wake Forest University

This presentation examines the interrelationships between economic policy, monetary policy, social events, corporate strategy, population trends, changes in technology, and regulatory environment that created the conditions for the 2008 financial crisis. Professor Duchac explains how this unique combination of conditions over the past decade created what has been described as a "once-in-a-century credit tsunami." This speech, which was originally sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and the Austrian-American Fulbright Commission, has been given to packed audiences at both the U.S. Embassy in Vienna, and the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.
